Hugh Jackman Claims Ryan Reynolds Will Be Deadpool’s Target in Deadpool 3

Hugh Jackman Claims Ryan Reynolds Will Be Deadpool's Target in Deadpool 3

Hugh Jackman has officially confirmed that Wolverine will be returning in the upcoming Deadpool franchise, and the character is expected to be quite irate.

Hugh Jackman took on the role of Wolverine back in 2000 when he first appeared as the character in Fox’s X-Men series. He continued to portray Wolverine for nearly two decades, appearing in various films within the Fox X-Men franchise. Jackman’s final portrayal of the character was in the 2017 film Logan, which marked Wolverine’s death.

However, with Disney’s acquisition of all Fox properties, including X-Men (and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine), these characters are now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While many believed that Logan was Jackman’s farewell to the Wolverine character, a recent announcement by Ryan Reynolds revealed that Jackman would be reprising the role in the third installment of the Deadpool franchise – something Reynolds had been hoping for.

The logistics of how this return will be executed, considering Wolverine’s death in Logan, remain a mystery. However, during a recent interview with AP Entertainment, Hugh Jackman provided some insight into what fans can expect from the beloved mutant in the upcoming film. Jackman stated:

“What? There’s no choice. He’s definitely the angrier, acerbic, grumpy [Wolverine], and he’s gonna take a lot of free shots at Ryan Reynolds, let me tell you. Physically, that is.”

Jackman’s remarks are sure to excite fans, as they align with the expectation that Wolverine will be grumpy, while Deadpool’s wit and humor will provide an interesting contrast and interaction between the two characters.

This dynamic between Wolverine and Deadpool is a hallmark of their relationship in Marvel comics and is anticipated to be a major selling point for the film.

Deadpool 3 is scheduled for release on November 8, 2024, which is still two years away. While the wait may be long, it is likely that more details about the film will be revealed as production progresses, keeping fans eagerly awaiting its release.
